The health and safety of our volunteers during the work parties, and any members of the public (and their animals) that might pass nearby, is important. We therefore take appropriate steps to protect them, e.g. by having a designated person in charge of each work party (who carries a first-aid kit, a mobile phone and a list of attendees) and briefing the volunteers on any special requirements for the specific work party.
Most of the requirements are common sense but we do have a booklet “Health & Safety Statements and Risk Assessments” which detail the applicable procedures, the potential risks and the preventative actions that should be taken. A copy of this booklet is given to each volunteer when they first start attending and they are asked to read it, and to occasionally re-read it to refresh their memories. This booklet can be viewed as a PDF document by clicking on the link below.
