Major Grant Awarded

FOLK, in conjunction with Charlton Kings Parish Council and Cheltenham Borough Council, have been awarded a major financial grant from National Grid’s Landscape Enhancement Inititiative.  This will enable work to be done over the next 3 years on Leckhampton Hill, Charlton Kings Common and Ravensgate Common.  Work will be undertaken in the following areas:

  • Dry stone walling
  • Gorse and other scrub management
  • Veteran trees
  • Tree felling, e.g. of ash affected by dieback and ageing larch
  • Electronic fencing for the cattle
  • Infrastructure installation, e.g. water supply and a cattle crush
  • Footpath restoration
  • Limekiln refurbishment
  • Preparation of site management plans

Work has already started on footpath restoration.
